Hours Required:
Tuesday evenings from 4-9pm and the 1st & 3rd Thursdays from 9am-2pm.
Due to patient needs and clinic hours, these hours are not negotiable.
Role & Responsibilities The primary role of the Spanish Language Patient Liaison (Interpreter) is to work with Spanish-speaking patients and act as a conduit between patients and medical professionals, translating information into a patient's native language in simple terms.
They will also assist our Hispanic Case Manager with confirming and scheduling appointments, as well as answering patient questions and assisting with forms.
The hours for this position will vary from 5-10 hours per week on average, with the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month required (9am - 2pm) and every Tuesday from 4-9pm.
Job Duties Translate between medical professionals and Clinic patients Help patients fill out forms that are in English Work with navigators to move patients through the Clinic effectively and efficiently Work with CVFC staff to develop messaging materials and messages to patients Call patients to schedule appointments and translate medical information as needed Qualifications / Experience Fluent in Spanish and English Knowledge of some medical terminology in both languages Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and within a team structure Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize Working knowledge of various software and database technology, including Microsoft Office Demonstrates respect for diversity Awareness of psychosocial barriers that impact the lives of the uninsured Embraces and supports the mission of the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic Priority will be given to University or Tech College students for internship programs This is a part-time, limited term, grant-funded position.
Applicants must be fluent in Spanish and available on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays from 9am-2pm and every Tuesday from 4-9pm.
